Travala.com recently expanded its online travel platform for cryptocurrencies by an additional 600,000 hotels thanks to a recent partnership with reservation giant Agoda.
Juan Otero, CEO of Travala, told Cointelegraph that the total number of properties on the platform has now reached over 2.2 million. He said:
“We can safely say that we are the world’s largest blockchain-based online travel agency by the number of lodging options available, with over 2,200,000 reservation options for 90,124 destinations.”
Agoda is a giant in the travel industry with more than 4,300 employees and annual sales of $ 1.2 billion, according to corporate data website Owler.
The announcement comes after Travala.com partnered with Expedia in early July, which also brought a large number of hotels to the platform. In late November 2019, the company entered into a similar partnership with Booking.com. This led to a 68% increase in bookings on the platform shortly afterwards.
In May, Travala.com – at that time only a reservation service for accommodation – merged with the encrypted flight booking service TravelByBit.
