Russian punk rock band Pussy Riot is planning to release DAO for LBTQ+ and artists.

As Cointelegraph co-founder Nadia Tolkonikova told Cointelegraph, DAO will work to reduce the gender inequality that continues to characterize the non-fungible token space (NFT) and, more generally, the crypto industry.

Despite the huge gender gap in cryptocurrency – according to a survey conducted in August 2021, about 60% of cryptocurrency investors in the US are white men – Nadia is convinced that Pussy Riot is still too early to impress.

“The NFT is still so small that I feel like with enough effort you can really change it,” she said.

Nadia is already using her subscriber base to promote the work of women and LGBTQ+ artists and connect them with potential collectors. DAO will continue to do so, but on a larger scale.

“We will hire a whole team to make educational materials for girls who want to enter the room,” Nadia said.

Punk rock band Pussy Riot has gained worldwide fame for its provocative rhetoric and criticism of the Russian government.

Last year, Pussy Riot began using NFT to raise funds for social needs. In March 2021, the music video for the single sold “Panic Attack” for 178 ETH as an NFT series. Most of the money was then donated to victims of domestic violence.

“I wanted to bring important aspects of human rights and philanthropy to NTF,” Nadia said.
