Immediately after the news that Zynga, developer of FarmVille and Words With Friends, will release the first game with non-fungible tokens this year, Zynga’s blockchain gaming ambitions take shape.

Matt Wolf, a marketing veteran with experience from Electronic Arts and Sega, has become Zynga’s new VP for Blockchain Games. It builds a new team and provides a rich “traditional gaming experience” to play to earn (P2E).

In an interview with Cointelegraph, he said that the talent pool in P2E games:

“Complete the lists when it comes to economics and traditional financial firepower – incredible people. Also when it comes to innovation and technology, it is off the list. ”
However, he took on the minds of many gamers, commenting on the elements of non-fungible token (NFT) gamification and P2E games. He acknowledged that the level of talent in the game was “not good”, and it undoubtedly shows Zynga’s reputation.

Zynga is known for FarmVille, CSR Racing and Words With Friends, and creates engaging social games that work well on mobile and on the go. They regularly register more than 100 million regular users per quarter on social media platforms and attract users with multiplayer games.

In comparison, the P2E gaming landscape favors speculation over gamification.

Ultimately, Zynga’s entry into P2E and NFT can breathe life into a room dominated by entry-level graphics along with superior tokenomics.

Wolf comments that Zynga has “strong playing power and we are building on our DeFi power.” They hire more people who “have that part of the equation”. Overall, Zynga is focused on creating games that are fun, valuable and custom-built with stability and confidence at its core. ”

When asked if the anti-blockchain and anti-P2E atmosphere could be a problem for the “traditional” game developer, Wolf was balanced:

“When you look at the historical character of the gaming community, you see that people stand on the sidelines and oppose change. They had the same feeling when the free game was launched, and you see it often now. ”
Ultimately, Wolf believes, “the general anti-blockchain sentiment will disappear.”

With NFT games released on a daily basis, here are five NFT games that can compete with Zynga games in 2022.
