Senior head of regulator for the world’s largest stock exchange moves into the cryptocurrency industry.
Anthony Albanese, the former chief executive of the New York Stock Exchange, is reportedly leaving his post and joining Andreessen Horowitz, a large venture capital firm specializing in crypto and blockchain investments.
Andreassen’s spokesman Horowitz told the Wall Street Journal that Albanese would leave the New York Stock Exchange to take up his new position in mid-November.
In his new position at Andreessen Horowitz, Albanese will focus on developing the company’s regulatory strategy for cryptocurrency projects and collaborating with regulators.
Andreessen Horowitz, known as a major cryptocurrency and blockchain-friendly venture capital firm, has invested in some of the largest cryptocurrency projects such as Coinbase, the largest cryptocurrency exchange in the United States.
A large venture capital firm is actively expanding its presence in the crypto sector in 2020. In April, Andreessen Horowitz raised $ 515 million for his second crypto- and blockchain-focused fund. The new fund aims to implement blockchain projects similar to the company’s first cryptocurrency fund, which raised $ 300 million in 2018.
