Billionaire Mark Cuban believes that Ethereum is the closest thing to real currency and considers Bitcoin to be the best alternative to gold.

The co-owner of Shark Tank and Dallas Maverick commented on a recent episode of Delphi’s podcast, stating that the rise of DeFi and NFT had sparked his enthusiasm with cryptocurrencies. “Smart contracts and the fact that they are decentralized,” he explained, means that “no one is responsible here, and governance is completely different. That changed the game.”

In fact, he compared the development of Ethereum smart contracts to the internet boom of the late 1990s and early 2000s:

“When the internet started coming out, I started seeing all these applications that could interfere with what was going on in the analog world, like when we were streaming because I wanted to listen to basketball at Indiana University, and I couldn’t do that on the radio in Dallas … .
Despite Ethereum’s rising popularity in Cuba, he stated that his wallet contains twice the amount of Bitcoin for Ethereum: “60 percent Bitcoin, 30 percent Ethereum and 10 percent of the rest.”

The owner of Mavs is not comparing the bitcoin to the internet boom because he sees it as a store of value in the first place. Bitcoin is believed to be the best investment alternative to gold:

“With bitcoins you can make transfers. That was cool. Right. The value of the store was amazing. It is the best alternative to gold, which is exceptional. It takes money from gold, and so it goes on. That’s why I have bitcoin, but there is something One: It’s not quite the right thing to compare to the Internet. ”
The billionaire who declared in September 2019 that I prefer bananas over Bitcoin has since changed the tune. However, it was perhaps more shared than the comments suggest, after a tweet in early January of this year, “I still have a cryptocurrency from the early days of Coinbase. I’ve never sold anything.”

While the Cuban did not disclose the “rest” of his portfolio, some of them may be Doges after investor Shark Tank speculated a scenario in which a Doge would reach $ 1.
