“Sooner or later, ETH will overtake Bitcoin and become the global standard,” said Polygon founder Sandeep Nailwal in an exclusive interview with Cointelegraph.
Nailwal believes that Ethereum will eventually become the “highest level of stability” for the DeFi space. Polygon will play a key role in ensuring Ethereum’s long-term success through its scalability solution. Despite increased competition from other Team 1 protocols such as Solana, Niallval believes it is too early to talk about an “Ethereum killer.”
He argued that “the Ethereum chain, given its underpinnings, security, level of decentralization, community and the trust that it has built as a chain over time, is not available to any other chain.”
According to the co-founder of Polygon, Etheruem will ultimately prove to be better than Bitcoin as it has more uses. Niallval believes that unless Bitcoin expands this tool beyond the functionality of the monetary system, it may not survive as a Layer 1 protocol in the long run.
“It might happen in 10 years, but I don’t see a world in which there are multiple core team protocols.”
