Ocean Builders, a company building “autonomous submarine homes”, has bought an old Australian cruise ship, renamed Satoshi, and plans to populate crypto companies, entrepreneurs and digital nomads off the coast of Panama.
In a statement, Ocean Builders COO Chad Elwartowski said the ship will be a hub for innovation, providing a unique space where owners of cryptocurrencies can build and communicate.
“We are committed to creating a technology and innovation center here in Panama. Our goal is to learn to live sustainably at sea and map new waters within these new boundaries. ”
The vessel was built in 1991 as Pacific Dawn and has since been operated by Princess Cruises and P&O Australia. Carnival Corporation, P & O’s parent company, has decided to sell the ship due to the pandemic’s impact on the cruise industry.
The cruise ship Satoshi is named after the creator of Bitcoin (BTC) under a pseudonym, with Elwartowski claiming that the ship will house restaurants, casinos, medical services and a water park. Satoshi will be moored in the Gulf of Panama, an island that hosts several cryptocurrency exchanges, and BTC will be accepted for all purchases on board along with US dollars.
The first 200 cabins of the Satoshi Model 777 will be sold at auctions scheduled from 5 to 28 November. The cost of the cabins ranges from $ 25,000 to $ 50,000. However, buyers must also pay a recurring monthly fee to gain full ownership of the cottages.
The cabins will be sold on one roof at a time to give related entrepreneurs the opportunity to buy rooms next to each other.
Our idea for families with children is to buy a room with a balcony or sea view for the parents and buy a cheaper interior room across the hall for the children. We like to think of your cabin as a bedroom, and your living room is the rest of the ship. ”
If all goes according to plan, Satoshi will be available to stay in from early 2021.
According to Marine Insight, “Magic Major” Ellortovski and his Thai girlfriend were accused last year of violating Thailand’s sovereignty when they tried to take over a naval house off the coast of Phuket. The house was allegedly taken over by the Thai navy and issued arrest warrants.
