Binance exec to lead crypto expert center by Russian bank association

While Binance is suspending its services in countries such as Israel due to licensing issues, the world’s largest cryptocurrency exchange by trading volume continues to strengthen ties with Russia.

Binance announced on Thursday that it has joined the Association of Russian Banks with the aim of facilitating dialogue with local authorities, legislators and experts in the cryptocurrency industry.

The association, founded in 1990, includes more than 300 banks and financial organizations in Russia, and covers almost 90% of the country’s banking infrastructure.

The association’s board approved Binance’s membership in the association and launched a specialized expert center for digital financial assets and cryptocurrencies. The task of the expert center is to prepare professional reviews of digital asset trading in Russia and provide the association and its representatives with expert data on the subject, as well as a report on international experience of working with cryptocurrencies.

Olga Goncharova, Director of Government Relations at Binance in Russia and the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), headed the CIS Expert Center, which was approved by the CIS Bureau. Goncharova joined the crypto exchange in January to promote compliance work in Russia and the CIS. Prior to joining Binance, she worked as a division manager at Bank of Russia.

Introducing Goncharova, the president of the association, Georgy Luntovsky, indicated that she would be responsible for the proper monitoring of cryptocurrency trading in Russia. “In our opinion, she is a good candidate for the role of leader of the platform, where the expert community can discuss approaches to the regulation and development of digital financial assets,” he said.

Gleb Kostarev, director of Binance for Eastern Europe, expressed confidence that Binance’s experience in the cryptocurrency market will be positively received by the Russian banking community.

“We are on the brink of a global transformation in cryptocurrency. As the world’s largest cryptocurrency ecosystem, Binance has a proven track record of working with regulators,” Kostarev said.
