The giant American movie theaters AMC is constantly close to its goal of accepting crypto payments by the end of the year, and now it is making its debut to purchase cryptocurrency for e-gift cards.
CEO Adam Aaron said Tuesday that AMC customers can now purchase digital gift cards in cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin (BTC) directly through the AMC website, mobile app and movie theaters.
Aaron said the new payment method is enabled by the large cryptocurrency payment processor BitPay, so consumers can purchase e-cards worth up to $200.
The CEO highlighted Dogecoin (DOGE) among the digital assets that have been accepted to purchase AMC electronic cards. In September, Aaron indicated that AMC would add DOGE to the list of cryptocurrencies accepted for tickets by the end of 2021.
Aaron asked 140,000 people on Twitter and asked the community if AMC should accept DOGE payments for tickets. “You obviously think AMC should accept Dogecoin. Now we need to figure out how to do it. Stay tuned for updates,” Aaron said at the time.
